The Lalande-de-Pomerolappellation has long had a fine reputation. The vineyards first developed in the 12th century under the aegis of the Knights Templar, who had considerable winegrowing knowledge. Lalande-de-Pomerolis located north of the neighbouringPomerolappellation from which it is separated only by a small stream, La Barbanne. Situated in the commune of Lalande-de-Pomerol, Château des Maureswas acquired by Monsieur Foucardin 1963 and has been managed by his family ever since.
All the grapes are destemmedand carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place naturally, and the wine stays on the skins for three to four weeks. Temperatures are kept at 27-29°C. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and is fined with egg white.
